AGAINST THE GRAIN
- This phrase encapsulates the essence of the brand, it’s not about being rebellious or whatever, but more so about going against the norms of society that are not conducive to your walk with Christ. For example, in the western world, it’s very much about me, myself and I. It’s damn near a “to hell with everyone else” undertone. However, Jesus preaches that we should love our neighbour just as we love ourselves. The Bible tells us to think of others more than ourselves. This is just a small example of how the life of a Christian is against the grain of the views of society.
- Mark 12:31 - The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.
- Philippians 2:2-4 - Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
BIRDS
- This bird shows a depiction of freedom. If you look closely you’ll see some birds sitting on the ledge while one took the leap to freedom. To take that leap, you need trust. The bird can trust in their wings working when they take off, and we need to trust in God when we take that step big or small. And as we take that step in whatever it is, whether it’s giving your life to Christ, a business, a relationship, some madness or whatever, just know you’re stepping into freedom with God.
- John 8:36 - So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.
- Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Back Design:
JESUS CHRIST SAVES LIVES
- This one is clear, Jesus Christ died for us, he saved me and you. Not that we’ll die an earthly death and it ends there but that even when our time on earth is done, we have a part two in eternal life with Him. He that never sinned became sin to pay for our sins, therefore bridging the gap between man and God and saving our lives.
- John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
- 2 Corinthians 5:21 - For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
BIRDS
- The birds are a symbolises of the Holy Spirit, when He descended upon Jesus in the form of doves when Jesus got baptised. Funny story, while designing the back I never realised some of these birds are pigeons, not doves, so ‘llow me abeg.
- Matthew 3:16-17 - As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him, I am well pleased.”
